Whiskey in the Jar-O

CELTIC THUNDER --

Definitely my favorite group of all time. Guess it's my Scotch-Irish Roots. Check out this video below.

Now I will try and explain why my heart swells and tears fall from my eyes when I watch and liisten to this. I am 74 years old. These beautiful boys with their beautiful singing and playing abilities -- I can imagine that young girls swoon. But what I see and feel is different.

They sing of a young man who robs and kills someone. And now sits reflecting -- in prison. This is not good -- this is not to be admired. But they perform this song and make us understand the message of the song -- what is is to be young -- and male -- and invincible. We don't identify with the crime committed -- we identify with their youth and sense of male invicibility. Whatever that essence is -- it's what young men have who go off and fight our wars when old men demand it. And why young women fall in love with them for it.

I have not explained well the emotions that fill my heart and soul when I listen to this performance. If I were 30 years younger, there would be an additional delightful fantasy that would accompany these thoughts. But I'm not. And that is as it should be.

Sing on, beautiful children, sing on.
