Chicken? . . . Chicken

That’s the name of the game they’re playing in Congress. That’s the game they ALWAYS play. Kind of like the "my dad can beat up your dad" game.

Whaddaya wanna bet they will find a solution . . . just hours before the deadline on August 2nd.

Do the guys with the MOST money/resources get to keep it (by NOT raising taxes on the highest income--2% of taxpayers) or do the guys with the LEAST money/resources lose more (by cutting back on Medicare, Social Security, other gov’t services).

Wonder what they'll do?

Wonder what Jesus would do? (*)

21 And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."
22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!"

  1. You are correct; they'll find a solution at the 11th hour. But I'd like to ask them "exactly what are you solving?" With political games being played and party lines ruling votes, it is hard to tell why we've come to the table. As you point out, is it to solve a budget deficit, jumpstart the economy or is everyone just trying to figure out how to get re-elected? Sadly, it seems it may be the latter.

  2. Red Letter Christian Conservative Liberal (WHA???) that I am, I have no problem embracing societal solutions that frequently seek the greatest good for the greatest number of folks. I don't have a problem with those who have been blessed greatly -- whether through their own efforts or the simple act of "fate" that placed their birth in this contry -- sharing their blessings with those less fortunate.
